One of the products I was given at the Gluten Free Allergy Friendly Expo in Dallas, TX was the Ardenne Farm Sugar Cookie Mix. I tried their blueberry muffin mix at the expo and it was amazing. I found out that a can of Maine Blueberries is included with the blueberry muffin mix. So, you get that fresh taste, not the dried bits that usually come with mixes.
Now on to the Sugar Cookie mix! First, I started by whipping the melted/soften butter (per box), then added the mix, egg, and water. I think it made a difference to whip the butter first. Then when you mix it all together it actually looks like normal cookie dough.
Once baked, I waited a few minutes until they seemed cool and tried one. When they are fresh out of the oven they have a rich, buttery taste. I wasn’t too fond of the buttery flavor that they have while they’re a bit warm. However, after they cooled completely, they were amazing! The non-gluten-free bf doesn’t like sugar cookies too much but he like them after the 12-24 cooling off period. I let them cool over night and the non-gf co-workers try them. They all approved!
Overall: Ardenne Farm’s sugar cookie mix is very tasty. Everyone who tried one liked them, even the non-sugar cookie fans!
The texture is like that of a normal gluten filled cookie. They are soft and will crumble easily. I can not wait to try some of their other products.
